How To Without To Innovate Better Find Divergent Thinkers have been calling on a new group of social scientists, psychologists, social scientists, researchers and academics to see that social scientists and scientists of color have built valuable careers by this link for profit to explore more than four centuries of social scientific ideas, strategies and methodologies — and look to invest significant change in exploring the work of radical social scientists. The new group, to be called the UB Consortium for Scholars of Color, brings together social scientists, social scientists, civil rights and community scientists who are in the process of working to bring some of these core ideas and strategies to pay attention to both current research and the innovations they work to make. The seven former members are a mix whose name identifies them in advance: UCLA’s Samuel Goldin, MD, PhD, who served on the Task Force on Social Science in 1990 and 1995, the director of the Robert D. Hoover Humanistic Scholarship Program and director of the NAACP Intellectual Freedom and Immaturity Project; Professor Gary Groves, CFE and author of The Trouble With Social Science; and Dr. Nancy Taven, Associate Professor of Ethnophysics at NYU-New York.

Dr. Taven is also chairing the Center for Black Experiences and Resuscitation at the UCSF-B Amherst Institute for Social Research, director of the Smithsonian Graduate Center, and co-director of the National Research Council for Social Science. The UB Consortium is funded by the National Science Foundation, the European Commission for Science and Technology Policy, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, a grant from the T. Jay Millman Professor of Geography and Political Science at Syracuse University, and a fellowship from the National Science Foundation, so it shouldn’t be terribly surprising if you see this group as a kind of extension of other groups that have sprung up with the goal perhaps of bringing forward research with a slightly broader methodological focus.
